FAQs

Where do I park?
Parking is at Bosworth’s Garden Centre in the Walled Garden, Elton. There is ample room and provision for disabled parking. The entrance to the Hall and Garden is along a pleasant tree-lined walk of approximately 300 metres.

Lavatories & Disabled Lavatories
There are facilities at both Bosworth’s Garden Centre and at the Hall.

Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are not allowed in the Hall and Garden. Assistance dogs are allowed in the Garden.

Admission*
Please note that last admission to the house and garden is 4.30pm.  This is to allow a minimum of at least 45 minutes for each visit.

All visitors to Elton Hall & Gardens must be in possession of a valid ticket. We strongly recommend that tickets are booked online in advance.  This also applies to Historic House and RHS Partner Garden members who are advised to reserve a date/time online.  For the comfort and safety of all, visitors arriving without a pre-booked ticket may need to wait before admittance or may be turned away.  Visitors arriving outside the timeslot specified on their ticket may also be required to wait before admittance.   Please note that Elton Hall operates a cashless system.

Entry time to the Hall building is shown on your ticket.  Visitors with tickets timed at 3.00pm or later may enter the grounds from an hour before the ticket time and visit the Gardens first.

Visits to the Hall are either “free-flow” (with Room Stewards available to answer questions) or by guided tour, depending on staff availability.  Most “free-flow” visitors take 45 minutes to 1 hour for the route through the Hall: guided tours last an hour.

The route around the Garden is at your leisure and, on average, takes approximately 45 minutes.

Accessibility
The Hall is not suitable for wheelchairs, Zimmer frames or pushchairs. There are several flights of steps, which may be a problem for visitors with walking difficulties.  There is  very little visitor seating within the Hall. The Garden is accessible for wheelchairs via gravel paths.

For further information about access arrangements, please telephone the Events Office: 01832 280468 / 07949 495422 or email events@eltonhall.com

Security and large bags
For safety and security reasons, a one-way system operates along the visitor route.  Backpacks may not be worn and large bags and items may not be carried inside the Hall (including pushchairs). These can be left behind the front desk and collected at the end of your house visit.

Can I bring a picnic?
Picnics/barbeques are not permitted. Bosworth’s Garden Centre in the walled garden provides delicious lunches, teas and light refreshments (booking suggested). It is also possible to book lunch at The Black Horse  (see Places to Eat).

Can I take photos?
Photography/filming is not permitted inside the Hall. You are welcome to take photographs of the Garden for private use. If you wish to use photographs of the Hall or Garden for commercial purposes, please call 07949 495422 / 01832 280468 or email events@eltonhall.com

Smoking
Smoking is not permitted inside the Hall or within the Garden or grounds.  This policy also applies to the use of electronic cigarettes (“vapes”).
